WHAT MAKES US DIFFERENT?

We listen to our members and respond with solutions
COMMITTED TO DIVERSITY, EQUITY AND INCLUSIVITY

The Executive Board is dedicated to building an inclusive culture where diverse voices inform equitable practices, and differences are valued and celebrated.  We are committed to actions that foster DEI in our operations, governance, communication, services and professional development.
The Board has adopted a DEI Committee to  guide policy and practice in the fulfillment of this commitment.

FORMED BY SUPERINTENDENTS

WSRMP was formed in 1986 by a group of School District and Educational Service District (ESD) superintendents during a nationwide commercial insurance crisis. Left without coverage, schools, cities, counties and other public entities formed risk‑retention pools.

NON-PROFIT

WSRMP is a non-profit, tax-exempt, inter-local governmental entity. As a risk-retention pool, WSRMP falls under the jurisdiction of the WA State Risk Manager. WSRMP does not report to the State Insurance Commissioner like private sector, for-profit insurance companies.

WASHINGTON STATE
K-12 ONLY

WSRMP provides comprehensive risk management and coverage programs to the Washington State K-12 public education community. We cover public school districts, Educational Service Districts (ESDs) and their inter‑local cooperatives.

MEMBER-OWNED MEMBER-GOVERNED

Our members are our owners. All members elect an Executive Board with representatives from three small-sized, three medium-sized, and three large-sized districts and one representative from an inter-local cooperative. Members have input in pool governance, including their coverage and how claims are handled.

FISCALLY RESPONSIBLE

WSRMP’s solvency, financial position and investments are determined and managed by outside, independent auditors, actuaries, investment advisors and financial managers. WSRMP holds a clean audit record from the SAO from 1986 through present. WSRMP engages a comprehensive Claims Technical Audit every three years. WSRMP is also audited by the State Risk Manager. Current audit reports are located on our website under Public Documents
